JLT Sport MSA Marshal of the Year

jpg - Nadine MSA AwardNadine Lewis, a member of the British Motorsport Marshals Club from Northwich, Cheshire, has been voted the winner of the prized JLT Sport/MSA Marshal of the Year Award 2009 by the UK’s governing body of motor sport, the Motor Sports Association.

The Award recognises excellence by a volunteer marshal from any discipline of motor sport and the winner collects the prestigious trophy – as well as a cheque for £250 – at the MSA’s annual Night of Champions awards evening. The ceremony is held at the Royal Automobile Club on Pall Mall in London during January and is attended each year by some of the most famous names in British motor sport.

“I am honoured to have been chosen for this award,” said Nadine. “I hope I can continue to support new recruits to a sport that I have enjoyed for as long as I can remember and participated in actively over the last 13 years.”

Nadine is an experienced and highly respected Incident Officer in the BMMC North Region and holds the post of Chief Incident Marshal at both Oulton Park and Anglesey Circuit.  She is the marshals’ representative on the BMMC North Region Committee and drives the Region’s programme for marshal recruitment, induction, mentoring and retention. She has proved extremely effective in this role, not least because of the links she has nurtured with local media, including local radio and television. Nadine also hosts the Region’s monthly Committee meetings and organises the Region’s ‘Hot Pot Supper’ for marshals.

As a direct result of Nadine’s commitment and enthusiasm, the North Region is enjoying a much reduced rate of wastage and her policy of proactively building relationships with marshals in their early years of membership has had a significant impact on membership levels.

The panel would also like to Highly Commend the submission on behalf of Lee Pitts of Stroud, Gloucestershire, who is a member of the Castle Combe Racing Club. Still only 36 yrs of age and having been a marshal for over 10 years, Lee is a dedicated volunteer who stands out as an individual and as an ambassador for the sport.
