Shadow Trophy

Winner: Simon Morris

Simon Morris 2011 AwardsExclusive to BMMC Midland, the Shadow Trophy represents the region’s highest accolade. Awarded for ‘a significant contribution to marshalling and the club’, previous winners include Diane Hardy, Mary Pearson and John Felix. 2012 sees Simon Morris joining an extensive list of distinguished predecessors, recognising his commitment during the 2011 season.

After the sad loss of Malcolm Garratt in 2009, MG Car Club’s Midland Centre struggled to replace their former Chief Marshal. So, in early 2011, they contacted the BMMC, asking for assistance. Simon rose to the challenge, making the role his own over the following months. The MGCC is delighted with the dedication he’s already shown, which helped ensure the seamless delivery of last season’s sprints and trials. Now firmly established as part of the Midland Centre team, we wish Simon every success, supporting this historic British marque’s hardcore of enthusiasts.

The Shadow trophy was gifted to the BMMC Midland Region in 1976, making it the first and oldest of our three awards. Donated by Don Nichols’ Shadow Racing, it features a Ford Cosworth DFV piston taken from one of the team’s cars at the height of their Formula 1 success.
