The Marshals Post - December 2011 Edition

With the 2012 racing season almost in sight, I’m finding it hard to believe this year’s passed so quickly. As ever, it’s been an eventful twelve months, including the first full season of racing at Donington Park since 2009. Hopefully, the next few months will see further improvements to the circuit’s facilities for competitors, marshals and spectators alike. Whatever happens, with the recent announcement of Mazda as an official sponsor, we’re sure to see a new fleet of track vehicles!
 
Unfortunately, the World Touring Car Championship event planned for next season has already been cancelled, with the series deserting UK fans in 2012. But, with Donington’s new Managing Director, Christopher Tate, now firmly in place, I’m hoping his extensive motorsport experience will positively affect the fortunes of our historic circuit.

 
As in previous years, the BMMC Midland Region Committee continues to seek additional members to join its established team. Meetings are held approximately every six weeks, covering issues relevant to the region's members and the marshalling community as a whole.
