Signing On
On arrival at Kirkby Mallory marshals are advised to enter the circuit via the Competitors/Officials entrance. This will bring you to the gate at Shaw’s Hairpin where your passes and tickets will be checked. You then proceed down the right side of the Hairpin, in the wrong direction, to the paddock gate at the Esses. Enter the paddock and find somewhere to park, out of the way of the competitors, usually between the lakes at the bottom of the paddock. Signing on usually takes place at 08.00 hrs in the small buildings left of the new Race Control building (looking from the bottom of the paddock).
Please check your joining instructions for the correct signing on times
Marshalling at Mallory Park
A good breakfast inside you at the outset will set you up for a good days marshalling and Mallory Park is renowned for the size and quality of its breakfasts. All marshals posts at Mallory Park are within walking distance of the paddock, but if you are allocated a post on the outside of the circuit and wish to park your car near your post you can drive back out the gate at Shaw’s Hairpin and enter the spectator enclosure and use the perimeter road to get near your post. Marshals at Mallory Park work in teams allocated to posts at designated points around the circuit. The Post Chief (Observer) is in charge of the post but will often delegate the assignment of Track Marshal duties and management of incidents to a designated Incident Officer. Flag Marshals work from the posts, but their designated positions are not always clearly defined. Most meetings at Mallory Park take place on Sundays and there is an 18.00 hrs curfew. The bar in the paddock diner usually stays open for a short while at the end of the meeting providing marshals with an opportunity to socialise while the spectators and traffic disperses. There are always a reasonable number of spectators at Mallory Park.
