As of 2025, we have recruited a small team of marshals to help those who are new to settle in. The marshal mentor team are listed below.

Nigel Kendall<\/strong>
I have now been marshalling for 3 years, after the other half (also a marshal) told me that I would enjoy it. She was right! I upgraded to Race Grade 1 (incident, flag) last year and, as a result, took over the vacant Midlands grading position so we have the support we need to upgrade. I am currently doing more off track and working towards an off track Grade 1 (pits, startline, assembly). As well as the race marshalling (mainly at Donington and Mallory but have also done Brands), I regularly do Sprint and Autotest marshalling at Curborough. I am a chief marshal\u2019s saviour\/nightmare (*delete as appropriate) as I hate choosing roles and will mail them with a \u2018put me anywhere\u2019.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Steve Reynolds<\/strong>
I have been marshalling since 2019, including:- Speed<\/strong> – 3 Sisters, Anglesey, Curborough, Aintree, Blyton Park; Hill Climb at Isle of Man 3 different events each time, Barbon & Scammonden Dam. Track <\/strong>– F1, Formula E., Silverstone, Donington, Anglesey, Mallory Park. Rally <\/strong>\u2013 Cadwell, Donington Park.
I am currently (Race safe-ACU) a Track Grade 1 and a Speed Grade 1 marshal with a wide experience of events and a very full PRC record, working now to Grade 2. I had mentoring from a well-experienced mentor as a Trainee (during COVID, which made it difficult to find an event) and found it very helpful. I am pretty well known in our close-knit community and love doing it.<\/p>\n<\/div>

Dave Green
<\/strong>This is my third year of marshalling and I gained Race Grade 1 back in April 2025. I currently only volunteer at Donington through the ES team for Incident. I am hoping to gain Grade 2 before my lad is old enough to marshal, where I’ll probably try a few years in assembly or other off track duties. I am all for helping new marshals navigate the different nuances of marshalling and feel more welcomed to the family.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Chris Macdonald<\/strong>
I live in Derby, and am 27 years old. I\u2019ve been marshalling 2 \u00bd years, totalling 28 days. I am a Grade 1 track marshal. My local circuit is Donington and I have marshalled events such as Formula E, BTCC, British GT, as well as lots of club events. I love all sorts of racing and marshalling different circuits such as Mallory, Silverstone and Croft.<\/p>\n<\/div>

Graeme Fowler
<\/strong>I have 16 years of experience, and am a Grade 3 Post Chief. I have experience of many different roles, including incident, flag, post chief, safety car observer, race radios, race logging, and event steward. I am sure there are some more somewhere along the line! I have marshalled 8 British Grand Prix, including being one of the post chiefs at Zhou Guanyo\u2019s infamous barrier-hopping crash in 2022; also 3 times at the Le Mans 24 Hour race. I have flagged in Australia for the Supercars and in 2019 I had the privilege of being in the safety car for both British GT throughout the season, plus a last-minute switch to be the safety car observer for the FIA Historic F1 sessions at Silverstone on the GP weekend.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Malc Merrifield
<\/strong>So this is my 9th year marshalling. I had always been interested in motorsport, but when my then-girlfriend (now wife) took me to the British Grand Prix in 2015 and I walked past the marshal recruitment tent, I got chatting to some really nice people and I signed up via a taster day. In 2016, I started and I have not looked back. I have enjoyed the camaraderie both on and off track. I feel I have made some great friends for life. As is often cited, no two incidents are ever the same, and this is a very important thing to remember, alongside the debrief after. I am often at Donington or Mallory as these are closest to my home in Leicester. The ‘biggest’ events I have done are 3 British Grand Prix, several GT championships, a few BTCC and the Festival of Speed. I am currently working toward my Grade 3 Post Chief grading but am happy to be assigned roles as required.<\/p>\n<\/div>

Charlie Davis
<\/strong>I have been marshalling since 2023, newly upgraded to Grade 1 track, working towards my Grade 2. I am also currently working toward my Grade 1 off track. I can mainly be found at Donington but will also appear at Mallory or Silverstone. I was awarded the newcomer marshal of the year award for Donington in 2025. I am known for my bright yellow headset by all IO’s & Race Control. I will work any position as long as snacks are promised.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Rich Stevenson<\/strong>
I have been part of the Orange Army since 2023. I have been interested in motorsport from an early age and after thinking about joining the BMMC, I finally took the plunge and wish I had done it sooner! I spend most weekends now either trackside on circuit (Donington Park, Cadwell Park) or over at Curborough, where I do trackside\/paddock for Sprinting and Autotests and have also started doing track and paddock in Karting at Shenington and PFI.<\/p>\n<\/div>

Jane Stone<\/strong>
After a fateful (and soaking wet) weekend at Donington’s 2021 Convoy in the Park, my partner and I signed up for a marshal taster day and never looked back. Fast forward to today, I’m a Grade 1 off-track marshal with nearly enough days to go for my Grade 2. I have done Assembly, Pits, Startline, along with Chief Pits, Chief Startline and Flag. I still mainly stick to Donington, my home and favourite circuit, but I have also had the opportunity to marshal at Formula E. I worked on the recruitment stand at Autosport 2025 and I am a racing pride community champion. I love inspiring people to marshal. I started at 22 and have learnt from some wonderful marshals and friends, plus I have had some awesome experiences!<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n
