We realise that not everyone can manage the full event. Therefore, if you are available for part of the weekend, that would be a tremendous help to the BRSCC club. If you are planning on volunteering for less than the full event, please follow up with an email stating the hours that you will be available to marshal. If you did indicate you would be attending, but now find you are unable to, please let us know as soon as you can. If you are planning to volunteer, thank you for supporting racing at Snetterton! Thank you for supporting BRSCC, who also pay for and run the training day at Snetterton for all marshals!

Food

The BRSCC club are planning to offer marshals a full meal service. This will consist of dinner on Friday evening before the start of practice and qualifying. On Saturday breakfast, lunch, and dinner will be provided. Sunday will be breakfast and Sunday lunch. More information regarding other catering arrangements will be made available to those who sign-on for this event.
There will also be a marshals rest area open throughout the event with hot and cold drinks available. The on-track activity starts from 18:25 on Friday 21st, so marshals arrival time is from mid afternoon on Friday.
Any volunteers to use BMMC volunteering system or contact Chief Marshal, Kay Peterson, on marshals@brscc-ea.co.uk or 01394-271915 asap as applications close at 19:30 on Friday August 7th so allocations and rotas can be planned.

Kop HillClimb Festival September 12/13

Kop HillClimb festival is regarded as one of the premier motorsport events in the year. Held on an historic venue dating back to 1915 Kop welcomes cars and motorbikes of all ages, together with a family-friendly festival with fairground rides, food stalls and superb vehicle displays not to mention stores that sell a variety of vintage clothing, antiques, memorabilia, art, and lots of other things associated with motorsport plus a superb downhill soapbox race for the kids.

It is over a century since residents, competitors, friends and mechanics first witnessed timed runs up Kop Hill. The first year involved just motorcycles. One year on and the first cars came – and what cars! A veritable alphabet of cars took to the hill: some roaring, some cruising and some puttering to the top.

By the early twenties cars were getting larger and ever more powerful but despite the very best drivers and vehicles being driven by huge aero engines, bikes finally took the record for fastest up the hill in the last year of the event before the war.

Since we re-introduced the event in 2009, we have witnessed many of those same beasts charging up the hill, as well as experiencing the latest exotic models up close and personal. We’ve seen it all, steam, electric and just about every gasoline-powered marque you can name. At Kop Hill, you can experience the weird, the wonderful, the fast and the first of their kind.

There are historic vehicles from 1900 right up to modern vehicles that are either crowd pleasing, rare or significant or, in many cases, all three.

And it’s not just cars – each September Kop Hill once again comes alive to the sounds of cursing and kick starting, thrashing twins and megaphone pipes. Two hundred or more bikes, ranging across a hundred plus years of mechanical chain, belt and shaft driven complexity all ridden, of course, with great brio by riders both young and old, once again turning our paddock into a veritable cacophony of two-wheel history.

The paddock and the hill itself are manned entirely by BMMC marshals. The paddock is open to all who attend and the atmosphere throughout the whole weekend is fantastic.

This year we have a sufficiency of marshals on the hill itself but are currently short of a few more marshals to help in the paddock. Ensuring our entrants get to the start line on time and enjoy their runs up the hill is an essential part of the job for our marshals. Because this is a non-competitive, untimed event, the atmosphere is one of enjoyment and cooperation. All who have marshalled the event before, put it up towards the top of any event that they have marshalled during the year.

If you would like to join our band of helpers then please drop me a line at chris.hobson@Kophillclimb.org.uk stating whether you can do both days or just one. I am sure that you will enjoy the event and will want to come back in the future.

If you are in any doubt as to just what a different type of event this is then please have a look at the video. Come and join our friendly team.

I look forward to welcoming you on the hill in September.

Silverstone (various dates)

Silverstone are looking for marshals for the following events:

BARC – 3rd & 4th October

Equipe – 3rd October

BRSCC / HSCC – 10th & 11th October

You can register on the volunteering site: BMMC volunteering site

This page will list any specific requests from organisors, looking for support.
