Stuart sits in the centre of it all, being one of the few figures who has been as instrumental in shaping Silverstone\u2019s present and future. In a role that demands both commercial sharpness and a deeply felt respect for racing heritage, Stuart has proven himself to be the ideal custodian of Britain\u2019s home of motorsport, overseeing an ambitious evolution of Silverstone. From securing the long-term future of the British Grand Prix to spearheading multi-million-pound infrastructure projects, including the state-of-the-art Silverstone Experience museum and the recently launched Escapade trackside accommodation, he has played a significant role in ensuring the circuit remains relevant in a fast-changing industry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
To be held at the White Horse Pub<\/strong>, Silverstone , NN128UW on Wednesday 1st<\/sup> April 2026 from 7pm <\/strong>onwards.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Come and join us for a fascinating evening and insight into this incredible world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n This evening is for all marshals (not just BMMC), and their guests.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Woolmer Classic Engineering<\/a> \u2013 one of Bedfordshire\u2019s best-kept motor sport secrets!<\/p>\n\n\n\n Those of you who were marshalling at the Pomeroy Trophy in February and at the Equipe Classic Racing over the Easter weekend will have had plenty of opportunity to see and admire cars prepared by Woolmer Classic Engineering, even if you have never heard of them. <\/p>\n\n\n\n As well as restoring classic road cars, WCE offer a full competition car package including preparation, transport and event support, and also have an engine build and test facility including an in-house rolling road. Founded by Paul Woolmer, one of this country\u2019s leading authorities on ex-works BMC competition cars, and based at their home in the countryside north of Bedford, Paul and his wife Sharon head up a team of local experts working to the highest standards. Although their foundation is in British cars of the 60s and 70s, WCE look after a wide range of ages and makes for clients all over Europe, and have an FIA MGB and an Escort Mk1RS2000 as \u201chire cars\u201d as well as looking after a number of private car collections.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Both Paul and Sharon are former racers, and, now joined in the business by their son Richard, a graduate of Silverstone Motorsport College and a podium winner at Goodwood, the whole family have been immersed in classic cars since 1980 when Paul bought his first Frogeye Sprite, starting WCE when the hobby overtook everything else! The business is not just focussed on circuit racing, you\u2019ll find WCE supporting cars at hill climbs and sprints as well as preparing classic rally cars, and Paul has even competed in the Peking to Paris Rally as a \u201ctravelling driver\/mechanic\u201d for one of his clients.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The family have always supported marshals and in recent years have loaned BMMC some of their Healeys to grace our recruiting stands at Silverstone.
