At our northeast AGM Ang Garbutt resigned as chair, the whole of the committee would like to thank Ang for all her hard work while in this role. In the meantime, Michael Siddle will be acting as temporary chair of the northeast region while the below process takes place.
All applicants must read through all the below and MUST comply to all sections. Anyone who has any questions and queries and all those wishing to apply must contact the national secretary (nat.secretary@marshals.co.uk). Applicants can optionally include a statement of their experience, intentions and visions should they be chosen, this statement must not be more than 200 words. Applicants must inculde a proposer and seconder for the role, whom must be part of the relevant region.
This vacancy will be open for applications from the 3rd November 2025 through to 5th January 2026. Any applications received after midnight on 5th January 2026 will not be included.
The Regional Chair must agree to the terms of being a director defined by the Companies Act 2006:
Obligations as a Director:
- Act within the powers as stipulated in the BMMC’s Articles of Association and Rules
- Promote the BMMC to both its members and third parties, especially the public
- Exercise independent judgment and fiduciary governance
- Avoid conflicts of interest
- Not accept benefits from third parties
- Exercise reasonable care, skill and diligence in the above
- Be free of bankruptcy
Objectives:
- Lead the BMMC region to achieve its aims and onjectives
- Represent the BMMC region on relevant motorsport forums
- Improve communications in the region and nationally
- Ensure the region reflects BMMC core principles and objectives
Actions (Including but not limited to):
- Chair BMMC Regional Committee Mettings
- Attend BMMC National Council meetings as a Director and to represent the Region
- Participate in National Council policy making as a Director of BMMC
- Liaise with National Officers and fellow Directors on development of new strategies and policies
- Provide feedback to Regional Committee and members on National Council decisions
- Approve appointment of new Directions and recruitment of new members
- Provide advice and guidance for members on request
- Ensure Regional Committee complies with BMMC financial procedures as advised by National Treasurer
- Motivate and support the committee to deliver their objectives
- Ensure that Region follows BMMC policy guidelines, rules and Articles of Association
- Use every opportunity to communicate and meet with members
- Abide by Motorsport UK Race with Respect
- Abide by confidentiality at Regional Committee, National Council and in dialogue with members, (written, verbal and on social media)

Qualifications:
- Member of BMMC region
- Must be approved by BMMC directors
- Must be an active marshal
