2025 committee reports.
Ang went through her report which gave a brief overview of the year 2025 in the Northeast
region. Ang announced that unfortunately at this AGM Tim Bendelow will be stepping
down from his role as speed and rally representative. Ang on behalf of everyone on the
committee thanked Tim for all his hard work, time and dedication over the years. It was
reminded that due to Tim standing down this would mean that the role of both rally and
speed representative would be vacant and in need on someone to take this over if anyone
is interested. Ang went on to mention a few events that the committee have attended, one
being asked by MSUK to attend an event at Blyton to share the BMMC and marshal
opportunities. Ang then gave an overview of the current committee over this year and
thanked all those who have put their time and effort into this year.
Ang went on to say that the BMMC would like to recognize the cooperation of the chief
marshal at Croft, Bill Sudlow, for allowing the region to take over managing and running
taster days in varied roles across the circuit and also in specialist areas.
Craig as the Croft representative gave his overview of the year and mentioned that the
region has held 2 recruitment days at croft, one being at the BTCC where 30 people
registered interest and the other at a motorsport day in Darlington town Centre and
roughly 30 more people registered interest there too. There was also a car show held at
Croft in which a stand was set up where the overall result was that people didn’t
understand they could or how they could get into marshaling. All the race events have
finished at Croft and Craig pointed out that all events have been very well manned. The
2026 dates are yet to be fully confirmed but a few dates such as BTCC and TCR events
have been announced. Craig mentioned that over the year unfortunately there has been a
few major incidents at Croft, but all have been managed very well by all involved.
Tim started his report by promoting speed events, Harewood have a lot of events
throughout the year and can involve not only cars but motorbikes too. He then went onto
the rally cross events at Blyton and sprinting and wanted people to know that those events
are available for anyone to go and try if they would like.
Andrew gave his report and updated everyone that as the current time of the AGM the
membership figure for the Northeast was at 372 members, which is more than it was at
the 2024 AGM and also 4 new members in the last week.
Mike as the Cadwell representative said that this year due to rescue commitments he
hasn’t managed to spend much time at Cadwell but believed that everything was running
smoothly with no issues. He also mentioned he is in the process of completing his training
to become a trainer also.
Claire, as a new member of the committee, introduced herself and gave a brief overview
of her motorsport career. Claire has been involved in all aspects of motor sports in the last
30 years but is keen to get going with her role and is looking forward to it.
Charlotte as another new member gave a brief overview as she has only just started
marshaling this year and is excited to get going with the social media side of things.
Northeast Chair Announcement.
Ang announced that as of this AGM she would be standing down as Chair of the
Northeast. Michael went on to thank Ang, and on behalf of everyone in the BMMC we
hope she will stay involved although not as chair and still be part of the committee.
National Chair.
Chris Hobson gave his thanks to all of the Northeast committee and especially for pulling
the region back together, he was very happy to hear that we now have a rep for Knockhill.
Chris thanked Ang for all her hard work and bringing new people in and that he is sorry to
see her step down, but he hopes that the committee will continue to work together and
move forward.
Any other business:
Mark Jarvis asked the question to the committee regarding Cadwell Park training events
as that there hasn’t been any formal training at Cadwell for a few years now and that their
marshals haven’t been informed of other events in the region for training.
Elizabeth Klinkenberg asked the question regarding rally stage commander training which
there has been none of recently, Elizabeth and Chris mentioned that this may be due to
MSUK processing whether this is a licensed role or not.
It was brought to attention during and after the meeting that a few members couldn’t
access the zoom meeting due to it requiring a commercial account, this will be looked into
going forward for any future regional meetings.
