Committee reports as below :

Chair report

My report to the NE AGM starts with my role as I started was to rebuilt the NE Region Committee following the resignation of the previous incumbents, to get to know those helping rebuild and once the building blocks were in place to move into a revitalize position for BMMC in the North East, make it inclusive of all disciplines and ensure all committee members feel comfortable and supported in their roles. Following on with keeping the pace of improvement and growth steady but comfortable. I recognize that sitting on a committee is not for all and my aim is to ensure those happy to do so continue to willingly give up their time for the benefit of others.

The committee is almost fully formed with good contribution from all, membership numbers (thank you Andrew) have steadily risen during the year, starting at 327 and now at 357 and we aim to push recruitment in the coming year.

No so well were the hiatus after I first took on the role (poorly and subsequent death of my father) and the loss (hopefully temporary) of Sofia our regional secretary coupled with a couple of HR issues. Thanks to Michael. coming aboard I now have secretarial support.

Plans for 25 I will endeavour to attend meetings at all venues within the NE region and introduce myself and do some recruitment. NE region committee members to continue to promote the value of being a member of BMMC. I would like us as a region to look at facilities for marshals in the various venues -shelter, breaks, valuable briefings and staying over facilities, with an aim of supporting our members and other marshals to have the best experience.

Angela Garbutt

North East Chair

Vice Chair report

I have been supporting Angela with the new roles we have taken on. It has been a very busy time getting some of the committee roles filled with a few still left and also getting access to various systems..

I have also spent a time getting to know who is who within our North East Area along with the main BMMC Committee along with this I have had some great support as it’s very new to me.

I also started to bring the Social media side of things up to date but thankfully this role has now been taking over with Georgie coming on board.

In the last couple of weeks i have managed to get logins for the web site which I have been working on and brining things Up-to-date.

In the coming year i will continue supporting Angela and any BMMC member while also continuing with various roles to allow the North East Region to be where it should be,

I would also like to take the opportunity to thank you all for the support. The same goes to the people that have come forward to take on roles at the Club

Craig Hope

Vice Chair.

North East Secretary Report

I only joined the committee in September this year; and the original aim was to join as a general committee member with no specific role, with the idea of supporting those other members of the committee and seeing what input I could add.

However due to the regional secretary, Sofia, having to take a step back temporarily I have stepped into supporting the chair, Ang Garbutt, by taking on the secretarial duties for the North East and still helping as and where I can. Although I am enjoying the role, I send my best wishes to Sofia and hopefully we see her back in the secretary role in early 2025.

Going forward I hope to continue learning how the committee functionalities work, supporting the committee as a whole and supporting the chair until with being stand in secretary until Sofia returns.

Michael Siddle

Committee member & stand in secretary

North East Rally & Speed reports 2024

Rally

NE members have marshalled on events throughout the region – from the forests, rough-roads & old airfields of North Yorkshire, Kielder & Scotland through the tarmac surfaces of Cadwell Park, Otterburn, & closed-roads around Duns, Dunoon & Mull; to the night rallies in the region, along with the use of MOD land for Historic & Targa events.

Events outside the region have also featured – namely the North West, the Isle of Man, Ireland, Wales, Jersey, & possibly mainland Europe.

Some events suffered from minimal marshalling numbers, but most ran well-staffed.

It may be the case that some marshals are choosing to do more local rallies, rather than travel to some of the far-distant events.

BRMC members number 874, which is approximately one-third of the total BMMC membership.

Speed

NE members marshalled at the regular speed venues of Harewood, Blyton, Scammonden Dam & at Cadwell Park’s now annual-season opener; plus the Scottish venues of Doune, Kames, Forrestburn, Fintray, Bo’Ness, Golspie & Boyndie. Again, some sprints & hillclimbs ran with a minimum of marshals, but enough to allow events to go ahead. Barbon Manor, Aintree, Three Sisters, & possibly Anglesey & Curborough may also have featured in some marshals calendar’s.

North East Media report 2024

2024 has saw the implementation of a mostly new committee for the BMMC NE region. Approximately 3 months ago I took over the media coordinator role. It hasn’t been the easiest of starts, with some admin and technical issues (what media role doesn’t though ), but my hopes for the 2025 season and beyond are high.

So what went well in 2024 do you ask?

Currently the public Facebook page has 175 followers and the private group has 42 members. Both have steady engagement levels with membership levels increasing within the private group. The website building is well under waywith thanks to Craig Hope and we have worked with a published motorsport magazine with a reach of over 100k readers to highlight the north east region.

What are the plans for 2025?

In 2025 we want to continue the growth of both the public and private pages, ensuring as many members are involved as possible. We want to ensure that the content delivered is relevant and most of all that it’s enjoyable and fun!

Once the website is up and running, we want to start working on the newsletter. Sharing stories and what’s going on around the region.

We also want to continue working with outside media such as magazines to showcase the incredibly hard and exciting work that all of our volunteers do.

Most of all we want to make sure that the content we deliver across all platforms is what our members want and need it to be. So we will be engaging more with members to make sure that as a member you are getting what is best.  We will be reaching out across the season but if anyone has any ideas please reach out to us.

North East Regalia report 2024, As part of the reformation of the NE committee. I have also taken on the regalia role. This is something I have just taken on. So for 2024 we are sorry that regalia is something we haven’t focused on but we will be trying our best for the 2025 season.
I am in the process of organising stock,(convincing the committee to let me call it Merch) and setting up a little portable shop to bring to circuits and events across the north east next season. I am even going to try have an online section across our media platforms and see if I can post things so that regalia is easily accessible for all our members.

Again we appreciate any feedback so if there are any ideas on things you would like to see then please reach out.
