The South West Region AGM was held on 23 October 2024 as a hybrid meeting at the Almondsbury Interchange Hotel and via Zoom.

Notice of the Regional Annual General Meeting to be held on:

7:00 PM on Wednesday 23 October 2024

The Almondsbury Interchange Hotel, 6 Gloucester Road,
Almondsbury, Bristol BS32 4AA
(Just off J 16 M5)

The meeting will be a hybrid event so that members can attend either in person or by Zoom.
Please let me know if you intend to join the meeting remotely or if you wish to attend in person. Further details of how to join the AGM meeting remotely will be circulated nearer the time.

It is anticipated that the formal business of the AGM will last no more than 1 hour.

At the AGM the appointment of Robert Hambly as our chair will be ratified.

Due to personal circumstances and the implementation of club rules there will be vacancies on the committee.
If you are interested in joining the committee to help the region grow and represent the membership, please contact me as soon as possible so that the necessary paperwork can be completed.

If any member of the region wishes to be nominated to join the committee the member should, in the 1st instance, email or post their details to me as Regional Secretary.

A relevant extract from the club rules regarding committee nomination is shown below:

K.3.7 To be eligible to stand to join the Regional Committee, a candidate must be a Full Member of the Club as defined in Appendix 1 of the Articles (other classes of membership will not be eligible), and must be in good standing, and must be formally allocated to that region.

K.3.8 Candidates must submit their nomination to the Regional Secretary in the form requested under K.3.6, together with the details of two Full Members affiliated with that region who are willing to propose and second their nomination.

Marshals Required – August Llandow Sprint

As we get close to our second Llandow Sprint on Saturday 17th August we desperately need more marshals to run the event.

With that in mind would you be able to support us this year, as at the time of writing we have a maximum 110 entries with reserves. As usual we will provide a meal in the on-site café.

New Regional Chair

Following the announcement that Alex Hodgkinson has been appointed as the club’s National Chair and therefore required to stand down as our regional chair a process began to seek nominations for a new Regional Chair.
The deadline for nominations closed at 5 PM on Wednesday 5 June 2024.
I can report that only one nomination was received. This means that, subject to formal ratification by the club’s board and the regional AGM, Rob Hambly has been appointed as our new regional chair.
I am sure that you will join me in wishing Rob every success in his new role.
