Team Brit Marshals Visit September 2025

We have received our second visit invite from ‘TEAM BRIT’ for a group of marshals to visit their race team facility, based near Pulborough, West Sussex, on Tuesday, 9th September (the visit will be either Morning or Afternoon). Where they prepare their GT4 Mclaren’s (and a BMW Salon) adapted with hand controls for drivers with disabilities. The visit is expected to last around 2-3 hours. This is also an opportunity to chat to members of a race team and have a little interactive fun with them, away from the pressures of a race meeting and learn more about what happens behind the scenes. And I know from our first visit, they will be equally keen to learn from marshals on how they can work better with us.

This event will be on a first come first served basis. You will be attending in a private capacity, but you must hold BMMC South East Membership. We will hold the application process open until Friday 4th July. but you must be able to attend on the day given.

In the first instance, please send your application to: Ian Bowles (se.members@marshals.co.uk) with your First name, Family name, BMMC SE membership number, and availability on Tuesday 9th September. Please mark the subject line ‘September Team Brit Tour #2’.

Once the deadline has passed, you will be notified around a week later (sooner if possible) if you have been successful and whether it will be in the Morning or Afternoon. We will also build a waiting list for those that are not successful on this occasion.

Best Regards, Ian Bowles

ProDrive Marshals Visit August 2025

This visit will be on a first come first served basis. You will be attending in a private capacity, but you must hold BMMC South East Membership. We will hold the application process open until Friday 4th July, but you must be able to attend on the day given.

Team Brit race team visit

Near Pulborough, West Sussex, on Friday 28th March

We had a Brilliant morning at Team Brit with a group of BMMC SE Marshals this morning (Friday). Learning not only about the Team itself, but their adapted car, what goes on behind the scenes of the team at a race meeting, meeting their Technical Director and 2 of the drivers amongst other staff which gave us the opportunity to have a 2 way conversation on how best to support drivers with disabilities amongst many other things.

There was time to do the wheel change challenge, SIM time on their adapted McLaren (sadly we had to cut it short due to a time restriction this time, but have been promised a longer visit next time we are there), we also had fun on the reaction light game.
Even the neighbouring company had a couple of quick road cars outside.
Looking forward to going back later in the season. In the meantime Brands Hatch beckons for the first race weekend of our season.

Thank you Team Brit ! All the very best for the season.

Changes to post numbers

All circuits that are hosting FIA registered events now need to have the posts numbered as outlined by the FIA (Article 9.2 of the FIM Circuit Standards).

“As from 2025, all the posts must be numbered in the following way:
The posts will be numbered in the direction of the track and according to the turn numbers.
The starter rostrum will be post 0.0. After that, the first post will be 1.1 then 1.2, and so on. Halfway between turn 1 and turn 2 the numbering will change to 2.1 the same will happen throughout the entire circuit.
All the posts (flag and marshal posts) will be numbered in this way regardless of the function of the post.
For example, there can be flag post 1.1 and if the next post is a track post it will be 1.2 even if it is the first track post at this turn.”

Put simply: The posts will be numbered in the direction of the track and according to the turn numbers. The starter rostrum will be post 0.0. After that, the first post will be 1.1 then 1.2, and so on.

Keep Watch. Keep Safe.

The Federation Internationale de l’Automobile in collaboration with the FIA Volunteers and Officials Commission (VOC) is launching a campaign aimed at raising awareness of safety issues among our group of marshals and officials.

Here are the 10 Golden rules (all sound advice!):

  1. Make sure you are standing up, fully alert and facing oncoming traffic while the track or special stage is live
  2. Be prepared for any situation even during Safety Car procedures, a formation lap or after the chequered flag.
  3. Always have an escape plan in place. You must protect yourself from danger. Be ready to help anyone else.
  4. Do not lean on any guardrail, concrete blocks, or debris fences. They are designed to move when hit by vehicles.
  5. Do not move in front of barriers unless instructed by the Clerk of the Course or your Senior Marshal. Only remain trackside for the minimum time necessary.
  6. If in doubt at any time, seek advice from your Senior Officials.
  7. Always check and double check the status of the circuit or special stage before leaving your post to assist a competitor.
  8. Protect yourself from extremes of weather, hearing damage, dust and dirt in your eyes. Wear suitable footwear and gloves for handling hot or sharp debris.
  9. Attend all safety and operational briefings and follow instructions from Senior Officials.
  10. Be careful when climbing over barriers or climbing up or down from earth banks. Check that flag signals are being shown for your protection.
