New National Chair

At a special Directors meeting last week (6/3/25) it was unanimously agreed that Chris Hobson (currently a Vice-President of the club) would assume the role of National Chairman on a pro-tem basis until the next AGM in December.

Following the resignation of the previous National Chair, the club advertised the position and was intending to run an election as per the club’s constitution.  

Unfortunately, no volunteers have been forthcoming.  It was therefore proposed that Chris Hobson (who was National Chair from 2004 to 2016) be appointed to lead the club whilst ongoing efforts are made to find a permanent replacement.   

Chris has assumed the role with immediate effect and will step down from his role as Vice-President whilst acting as National Chairman.

One of the first acts for Chris is to review the allocated activities for all Council members to identify how they may be more equitably spread across the directors and executive members to ensure no role (including that of National Chairman) requires a disproportionate amount of effort from the volunteer incumbent.  

He will also be looking at the representation of the club with outside bodies and will be seeking volunteers from the membership as a whole, to seek election to Motorsport UK’s various committees and working groups.

Chris can normally be seen at various events around the country acting as a MSUK Steward and always tries to find time to walk the venue and talk to all the volunteers.  If you see him at an event, please say “Hello” and let him know of any concerns or items you want to raise.
